Dr. Vijayalakshmy Subramaniam is an eminent Carnatic music vocalist. She has been performing as a classical vocalist for over three decades and has performed extensively in India and abroad. She also has conducted numerous workshops and lecture demonstrations on the various aspects of Carnatic Music. She has presented papers at international conferences in many countries over the last decade. Dr. Vijayalakshmi had her initial music training with Sri K. Padmanabhan, a disciple of Harikesanallur Muthiah Bhagavathar. Later, she learned from stalwart musicians such as Sri S.Rajam, T. R. Subramaniam and V. R. Krishnan.n
